November Visiting Teaching Message

Because the November Liahona and Ensign contain a report of the October general conference, there is not a specifically designated First Presidency Message or Visiting Teaching Message for November.

Home and visiting teachers are encouraged to prayerfully select their message from the addresses given during general conference.

Visit the general conference website to read, watch, or listen to conference addresses.

2 September 2012 RS Lesson

These tools are taken from Building a Mind of Steel by Kirk Duncan founder of 3 Key Elements.

Thoughts + Emotions + Actions = Results

We think about 60,000 to 85,000 thoughts per day and for a normal person at least 72% of those are negative. Is that what you want to determine your results in life?

“The adversary cannot make us do anything. He does lie at our door, as the scriptures say, and he follows us each day. Every time we go out, every decision we make, we are either choosing to move in his direction or in the direction of our Savior. But the adversary must depart if we tell him to depart. He cannot influence us unless we allow him to do so, and he knows that! The only time he can affect our minds and bodies-our very spirits-is when we allow him to do so.”

Robert D. Hales Ensign May 2006

The negative self-talk and chatter that goes on in our minds is Satan’s way of bringing us to his side. Start becoming aware of the conversations (self-talk) that is going on inside so you can change it!

Tools:

1. Write down the top 10 (or start with 5) negative comments you hear most often in your head (this is Satan’s ammunition). Then on the opposite side of the page write an opposite statement and add 1 more positive (this is your ammunition).

Example:

I can’t measure up,                             I’m doing the best I know how and that is good enough
I’m not good enough.                          and I have Heavenly Father’s help and support

2. Write a page description of who you are and why you are here. Read it every night before you go to bed so it will get reviewed while you are sleeping.

This will bring to remembrance the truth of you when times get challenging.

3. Track the negative comments that go on in your head, Write it down!! If you can see it you can stop it! This builds evidence for the brain to shift. Then it will become an automatic shift.

Now build the positive. Tools to help you listen to the spirit and the ministering angels that are there to help you:

1. Have a goal or vision in mind. Build a vision board so you can see what you are aiming for.

2. Journal all the positive things that are happening. The inspiration you are receiving. Builds evidence again that there is heavenly help for you.

3. Get clear on your direction so those around you (angels and humans) know how to help you. Keep your focus.

4. To help you become clear get up during the “last watch” the stillness of the night somewhere between 4:00 & 5:30 in the morning to journal. Ask questions and ponder. If you don’t want to do the early morning thing, another tool would be to write a letter to your Heavenly Father. Let him know all your thoughts, feelings, fears, doubts, questions etc. Get it all down, then skip some space and write his response back to you. Write down any thoughts or impressions that come to your mind. You will be amazed. I did this and loved it!!!

5. Choose to help people. Lose yourself. Also you will find that the other persons guarding angels will be teaching you how to help that person.

6. Before you go to sleep write questions down and allow your unconscious mind to solve them during your sleep. The next morning be sure to have paper and pen handy to write down the inspiration that comes.

7. Be in nature. The peace and calm of nature will nurture you.

8. Meditate daily. Always find a space of quiet time to calm the mind. Sit and just listen to your breathing or your heart beating.

You won't be using every tool at once. Use different tools at different times. These are just ideas to help you tune into the good (Godly) voices. Change your thoughts. Change your results. Change your life.

1 July 2012 RS Sunday Lesson Info

Favorite herbal remedies

July Ward Newsletter Update:  Just a note from the herbs in the newsletter that Brigham Young mentioned. The yarrow is NOT the yellow flower decorative yarrow, it is the white flower yarrow often found in the wild.

Red Raspberry leaves

This is mostly used as a tea from the dried up leaves. It is best to harvest the leaves before or after the fruit comes on. The leaves can be dried on newspaper in a warm place. Try to avoid direct sunlight. Then store in a cool place in a tightly sealed container.  The recommended dosage is 1 cup of tea 3 times a day when working on an ailment. Can be hot or cold.
·         Colds & Flu
·         Stomach upset.
·         Hormonal problems – good for just about every female issue.

Baby Tea
2 parts red raspberry
1 part spearmint
1 part catnip

Mix together and use 1 tsp. per cup of hot water. Let steep 15 mins. Sweeten with raw honey or stevia. Let stand until comfortable temperature is reached. Use in place of bottles at snack times or bed time while weaning.

Pregnancy Tea (also a good all around female tea)
3 parts red raspberry
1 part comfrey
1 part alfalfa

Mix together and use 1 tsp. per cup of hot water. Let steep 15 mins. Sweeten with raw honey, agave, or stevia if desired. Let stand until comfortable temperature is reached.

Garlic

Nature's antibiotic. 4 cloves is equal to an adult dose of penicillin. Good for most anything that ails you!!

Sore Throat Remedy
1 Tbls. Honey
3 cloves garlic minced
1/8 - ¼ tsp. Cayenne pepper

Mix and take as needed

Earaches – onion juice to kill pain and garlic oil to kill infection.

Garlic oil
Chop, mince or press garlic and place in jar. Fill to about 1 inch over the garlic with olive oil. Let sit for 2 days strain and use as needed.

Garlic Paste
Equal parts of minced garlic and Vaseline. Coat bottom of feet with oil then spread paste on bottom of the feet. Cover with an old sock and leave on overnight. Body will uptake the garlic and help to kill viruses and infections.

Cayenne (Red Pepper)

This is one of those wonder herbs for just about anything that ails you. It can be taken in a glass of water, start with 1/8 tsp. and work your way up, or in capsules (take with food).

This is a small list of its benefits:
·         Brings circulation to areas in body such as arthritic conditions, cold hands and feet, cramps etc.
·         Stop bleeding by packing on cuts and/or taking internally
·         Brings heat to the body in case of frostbite
·         High Vitamin C content helps in colds and flu, fever
·         Can bring someone out of shock or a heart attack by drinking down a glass of water with 1-3 tsp of cayenne in the water
·         Helps to stabilize blood pressure
·         Natural blood thinner
·         Stops bloody noses
·         Counter irritant for chronic pain
·         Aids in digestion, can cure an ulcer
·         Prevents spread of infections
·         Helps strep and sore throats as well as tonsillitis
·         Speeds healing
·         Lowers cholesterol
·         Cleanses the circulatory system

Genealogy Fan Chart

During today's Relief Society Lesson a website was mentioned that you can see your family history fan.  The idea was then to use the fan to find the places to start working on researching your family history.  If you do the fan you will most likely find sections of the fan without names (blank sections), this is where you work on family research.

If you click this link it will take you to the website:  Genealogy Fan Chart

If the link does not work the website is:  https://createfan.com/

You do have to log-in to the site by using your family search account login.  This is so that they can access your family history information to create the fan.

When I did this it stated that it was a one-time access.  I have not researched and read up on this website so I personally do not have any information to pass on to you about their privacy policy & such.  You will need to do that research and decide for yourself if this is a website that you want to give permission to access your family search account or not.

I am just passing on the website since so many sisters seemed interested in it.

May we all feel the desire to continue the searching out of ancestors & enjoy the blessings that come from our labors.  I know I enjoy learning about my ancestors and sharing the spirit of family history in my own family relations as I share my research.
